Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Judge of the High Court of Rajasthan has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court . In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India has directed Shri Justice Dinesh Maheshwari to assume charge of his office in the Punjab & Haryana High Court on or before 21st July, 2014.
On 4th July a division bench of the court comprising Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice Banwari Lal Sharma passed orders to the Rajasthan state government to fill up all the vacant positions of the information commissioners by August 14 in order to ensure speed up disposal of the pending appeals in the state information commission. The court has also asked the government to make functioning of the commission effective in tune with the fundamental principles of the RTI Act so that the common man need not face any hurdle in obtaining information.
